Invisalign FAQ
How does Invisalign compare to metal braces?
In general, Invisalign is most effective in straightening front teeth. If there is movement needed in the back teeth, or if the bite needs to be considerably corrected, Invisalign is not an ideal system for the case.
How much does Invisalign cost?
At Avalon Dental Center, as in most offices, there are a range of prices for Invisalign treatment. Our costs vary from $4,200 to $6,500, depending on how many aligners are necessary to move the teeth into their ideal position.
How do I clean Invisalign trays?
Your regular toothpaste and toothbrush are fine and recommended for keeping your Invisalign trays clean. Other products can discolor the aligners, making the teeth look somewhat yellow. The most important thing to remember during the Invisalign process is to brush and floss your teeth thoroughly. While Invisalign trays can be removed and thus more easily cleaned around than traditional braces, the close fitting nature of the aligners can act in a way similar to a teeth whitening tray, holding food and low pH saliva against the teeth and allowing it to ‘soak’ in if good oral hygiene is not practiced before and after inserting the trays.
How long does it take to see results?
In most cases, patients begin to see noticeable changed to their smile within three to four months, though results can appear sooner depending on the individual case.
Will I need to wear a retainer after Invisalign?
Retainers should be worn regularly for an extended period of time, ideally indefinitely, if you wish for the results of your Invisalign treatment to remain intact. Initially after completing treatment, retainers should be worn constantly. After six months, retainers can be worn exclusively at night.
